Telling us all about it - English and the media - Casey (70-79)

Commentary

This response demonstrates developing knowledge and understanding of some aspects of ethical behaviour in the media. Although a strong persona and voice has been created there is a variable control of language and form and a lack of development of ideas. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing within the 70–79 mark range at the end of Stage 6.

Dear Sir

This letter is dedicated to the low life journalist who reported my story on my crash two months ago. She was rude, irritating and paid no respect to me, my family and my ordeal. I only agreed to the interview if she agreed she would leave me and my family alone. And once she got what she wanted she edited the whole thing to make me look like my intentions were to harm as many people as possible when I thought injuring two elderly people was bad enough.

This disgusting human being should have the same thing done to them – chased out of town, lose all contact to their close friends and be ashamed to be known.

I hope you can see unfairness in this situation. I’m an Australian citizen. I demand to be treated fairly and the way she edited the interview and harassed my family and what friends I did have at the time, is not good enough.

The way I think we can compromise the incident instead of a law suit will be another interview starting with an apology and telling everyone the truth, the real story that it wasn’t entirely my fault but I’m not going to make excuses. All I want is a single apology for my mistreatment and false interview another interview with the right story this time.
