Bailey has demonstrated a very high level of competence in listening skills and is able to accurately break down linguistic elements in unfamiliar texts to extract meaning. The written response is appropriate for the purpose and audience, with effective use of Chinese characters for note-taking. A very high level of competence in using both hanzi and pinyin has been demonstrated, including the correct use of most tone marks, but a small amount of information has been omitted. A wide range of relevant vocabulary has been used. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade A standard.

Grade A

The student has an extensive knowledge and understanding of the content and can readily apply this knowledge. In addition, the student has achieved a very high level of competence in the processes and skills and can apply these skills to new situations.
