Lee has demonstrated a sound understanding of the spoken text and is able to identify most of the relevant information despite some misinterpretation. There is adequate use of pinyin in the written response but many tone marks are incorrect. Hanzi have not been used in section D and there are errors in the use of hanzi in section A. Some linguistic elements have been adequately applied but instead of writing a memo, Lee has written a conversation. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade C standard.

Grade C

The student has a sound knowledge and understanding of the main areas of content and has achieved an adequate level of competence in the processes and skills.
