Lindsay had demonstrated a sound knowledge of the topic but the text is not presented in a logical way. It needs to be more user-friendly and less repetitive to serve the function of a survey. An accurate knowledge of the Chinese writing system has been demonstrated through the use of hanzi and pinyin, although there are some grammatical errors and mistakes in tone marks. Lindsay has attempted to include a variety of question forms and there is adequate application of linguistic elements and vocabulary. A sound understanding of the similarities and difference of ways in which languages work as systems has been demonstrated, and an understanding of the features of Chinese-speaking communities is evident in the initial question. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade C standard.
