Mackenzie has demonstrated a limited level of competence in composing and evaluating a personal reflection. The response begins well but becomes anecdotal and incorporates irrelevant material. There is some personal engagement with the text but the sense of character is limited. A basic understanding of language features and structure has been demonstrated and an attempt has been made to justify the purpose of the text but audience has not been mentioned and there is inconsistent control of language. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade D standard at the end of Stage 4.

Grade D

The student has a basic knowledge and understanding of the content and has achieved a limited level of competence in the processes and skills.
