Reese has demonstrated a thorough understanding of World Heritage listing and a high level of competence in identifying and gathering information about World Heritage sites. The report is well organised and incorporates a number of examples to support the views expressed. There is a clear understanding of the differences between cultural and physical listings but the explanation of why World Heritage listings are important could be stronger. No mention has been made of the role of the United Nations in compiling the list or the obligations a listing imposes on countries. Arguments for the listing of the Sydney Opera House refer to the key criteria but ignore the importance of the site to Australian cultural identity. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade B standard.

Grade B
