Nicky has demonstrated basic knowledge and understanding of geometric patterns. An accurate diagram has been constructed in question 1 and the table was completed correctly, but the number of centicubes for 20 tunnels has been incorrectly calculated. No algebraic rule was given and an incorrect solution for the rule was provided. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade D standard midway through Stage 4.

The student has a basic knowledge and understanding of the content and has achieved a limited level of competence in the processes and skills.
