Terry has demonstrated elementary understanding of the concepts related to the volume of a cylinder and very limited competence in calculating volume. The question has been misinterpreted and the orientation of the cylinders, rather than the dimensions, has been changed. Terry has not demonstrated an understanding of the formula for the volume of a cylinder or the relationship between circumference and diameter. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade E standard at the end of Stage 4.

Grade E

The student has an elementary knowledge and understanding in few areas of the content and has achieved very limited competence in some of the processes and skills.
