Physical activity reflection

Description of activity

Students participate in a range of different physical activities, eg team, individual, non-competitive, group fitness. They rotate through these physical activities and keep a journal of their experiences using the attached reflection sheet. Students write a one page response to the phrase “I enjoy physical activity when….”

Context

Students have learnt about the benefits of physical activity, the physical activity guidelines and how a variety of physical activities can meet individual needs. They have also defined the health-related and skill-related components of fitness.

Outcomes

A student:
4.9 describes the benefits of a balanced lifestyle and participation in physical activity
4.10 explains how personal strengths and abilities contribute to enjoyable and successful participation in physical activity
4.14 engages successfully in a wide range of movement situations that displays an understanding of how and why people move

Criteria for assessing learning

Students will be assessed on their ability to:

  • reflect on their physical activity experiences
  • evaluate the impact physical activity has on their health
  • discuss factors that rate physical activity enjoyable.
