Exploring Value Adding in an Enterprise

Description of activity

Students research and present information on the concept of value adding, explaining the influence of value adding on changing consumer preferences. They investigate possible value adding strategies for a product of their chosen enterprise and evaluate ONE suitable strategy. Students then create a sample of promotional material that could be used in the marketing of their value added product. An activity sheet is provided.

Context

Students have covered content relating to production and management of an enterprise.

Outcomes

A student:
5.3.2 investigates and applies responsible marketing principles and processes
5.5.2 collects and analyses agricultural data and communicates results using a range of technologies

Criteria for assessing learning

Students will be assessed on their ability to:

  • demonstrate knowledge and understanding of value adding
  • explain the role of value adding in production and marketing of a chosen enterprise
  • evaluate a value adding strategy for an enterprise
  • produce promotional material for an enterprise.
