Sam has demonstrated a basic understanding of the features of a letter to the editor. A point of view but has been presented but only a basic understanding of the key issues has been shown. Obvious preconceptions have been identified and discussed. The first letter has an assertive voice but time management may have been an issue with the second letter. There is little evidence of a personal style and the letters are significantly shorter than the required length. There are also some errors in expression. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade D standard at the end of Stage 5.
