Taylor has demonstrated limited level of competence in using the conventions of a letter to the editor. A point of view has been presented but only basic understanding of one issue has been demonstrated. There is little evidence of a personal style and the letters are significantly shorter than the required length. An attempt has been made to use appropriate language for the audience but there are lapses in tone. The structure is weak and there are some errors in expression. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of performance at Grade D at the end of Stage 5.

Grade D

The student has a basic knowledge and understanding of the content and has achieved a limited level of competence in the processes and skills.
