Editorial

On the 15th of August our community was notified that a bill was passed to construct a freeway. This freeway would run through our community onto the main road. Our local community have been enraged by this selfish scheme. The construction of this freeway would have dramatic effects, including; the destruction of invaluable environment reserves, increased traffic through the peaceful neighbourhood and a enormous increase in noise pollution.

The construction of such a freeway is not only unnecessary but also inconsiderate. The construction of a freeway of this scale would involve the demolition of natural environment. This environment is not only precious to our community but also to native fauna and flora. The native bushland is a complex ecosystem. The bushland is home to many native flora and fauna, including some endangered species of both flora and fauna. I am outraged that such a self centric idea could even be considered. The construction of this freeway will result in hundreds of hectares being destroyed, and for what? This destruction will result in many animals losing their natural habitat. All this destruction to save a few minutes of travelling. Unbelievable.  The insensitivity of our local council is unbelievable.

The development of this freeway would transform the once serene and peaceful neighbourhood into a hectic, frenzied route for commuters. This will disrupt the neighbourhood.
