Current and Emerging Technologies - Presentation Report

Description of activity

Students present a report on current and emerging information and software technologies using software.

Context

Students have conducted research using a variety of resources. They have been introduced to the concepts of ethics, morals and privacy. Students have discussed current and emerging information and software technologies.

Outcomes

A student:
5.3.2 acquires and manipulates data and information in an ethical manner
5.4.1 analyses the effects of past current and emerging information and software technologies on the individual and society
5.5.2 communicates ideas, processes and solutions to a targeted audience

Criteria for assessing learning

Students will be assessed on their ability to:

  • identify current or emerging technologies that impact on society
  • discuss the effect that these technologies have had on society in recent years including any ethical issues
  • analyse society’s reaction to these technologies by including newspaper, magazine and website references. This should include some discussion of the validity, accuracy and reliability of web-based material.
  • show a range of source material, and reference this appropriately in a bibliography
  • use appropriate language and resources for the target audience
  • use appropriate software and hardware to present their information.
