Ashley has demonstrated extensive knowledge and understanding of trigonometric ratios. All three ratios have been used to find sides and angles, and examples where there is an unknown in the denominator have been included. The notation is correct and the working has been logically sequenced. There is accurate rounding to the nearest minute. Despite the lack of numerical examples of bearings, a correct definition has been provided. Appropriate mathematical arguments have been used to explain solutions, and deductive reasoning had been used. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade A9 standard at the end of Stage 5.

Grade A

The student has an extensive knowledge and understanding of the content and can readily apply this knowledge. In addition, the student has achieved a very high level of competence in the processes and skills and can apply these skills to new situations.
