Ashley has demonstrated a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content. A range of sources has been used to locate factual information and answer focus questions. All aspects of the retrieval chart have been covered using relevant information and subject-specific, technical language. The information has been communicated proficiently but additional detail would assist in expanding the topic. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade B standard at the end of Stage 1.

The student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content and a high level of competence in the processes and skills. In addition, the student is able to apply this knowledge and these skills to most situations.

Students recognise the basic structure and grammatical features of a limited range of text types.
