Jules has demonstrated a high level of competence in sorting, ordering and counting money. Some equivalent amounts have been demonstrated using coins of different denominations, and change from a dollar has been correctly calculated for most amounts. Diagrams have been used to record some solutions, and there is evidence of effective mental computation skills. To improve, Jules could provide additional examples of equivalent amounts and use more mathematical language and symbols to explain how answers were obtained. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade B standard midway through Stage 1.

Grade B

The student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content and a high level of competence in the processes and skills. In addition, the student is able to apply this knowledge and these skills to most situations.
