Other Work Samples for:

Bailey has demonstrated an elementary knowledge and understanding of telling the time on an analog clock. The numbers on the analog clock have been correctly represented but time has not been accurately recorded. A very limited level of competence in writing the time using digital notation is evident and little mathematical language has been used. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade E standard at the end of Stage 2.

Grade E

The student has an elementary knowledge and understanding in few areas of the content and has achieved very limited competence in some of the processes and skills.

Foundation Statement strands

The following strands are covered in this activity:

  • Working Mathematically
Students ask questions and use appropriate mental or written strategies, and technology, to solve problems. They use appropriate terminology to describe and link mathematical ideas, check statements for accuracy and explain reasoning.
  • Measurement and Data
Students estimate, measure, compare and record length, area, volume, capacity and mass using some formal units. They read and record time in hours and minutes in digital and analogue notation and make comparisons between time units. Students gather and organise data to create and interpret tables and graphs.
