Casey has demonstrated a very high level of competence in using techniques and form to convey meaning. Casey has drawn on art appreciation and knowledge of Picasso’s work. The subject’s personality is conveyed through the large face and good use of positive and negative space. There is evidence of risk-taking in the removal of a substantial amount of the background to create the desired effect. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade A standard at the end of Stage 3.

Grade A

The student has an extensive knowledge and understanding of the content and can readily apply this knowledge. In addition, the student has achieved a very high level of competence in the processes and skills and can apply these skills to new situations.
