Terry has demonstrated basic knoweldge and understanding of the structure and features of a narrative. The introduction, plot and conclusion are not developed and the story and vocabulary are simple. Sentence structure, grammar and punctuation are adequate. Most common words have been correctly spelt, but there is limited creativity and text development. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade D standard at the end of Stage 3.

The student has a basic knowledge and understanding of the content and has achieved a limited level of competence in the processes and skills.

They use a fluent and legible style to write and employ computer technology to present written texts effectively in a variety of ways for different purposes and audiences. Students evaluate the effectiveness of their writing by focusing on grammatical features and the conventions of writing.
